AESTHETIC ANALYSIS

The smile results from the contraction of several muscles of the face in order to let the other person express a feeling. Teeth, gums, muscles and facial lines are the different components of the smile. It is the result of many actions; A feeling will cause the contraction of facial muscles which will uncover the teeth and gums. A harmonious smile must always remain natural. The harmony of the smile is the result of a balance of the relationships between the teeth and the visible gums in the smile. Right-left symmetry must also be respected, and all of this must fit perfectly into the lines and shape of the face. Thus, an aesthetic analysis of the smile will allow, on the basis of photos and drawings, to determine how it is possible to harmonize a smile. The aesthetic analysis is accompanied by the understanding of the patient’s expectations. What does he want to see change? Shape of teeth, position, shade, wear, widen smile, balance strong>, is the gum too visible in the smile? The smile photos taken by the dentist will allow the patient to better understand their smile and determine what they expect from their dentist. The natural rendering of the result, crucial in the success of the treatment, will depend on the sensitivity of the practitioner to hear and understand the request of his patient, and on the dexterity of the dentist and of his prosthetist. The age of the patient, the shape of his face, his character, his smile are to be taken into account.

Why dental fillings are important

Once the aesthetic analysis has been carried out, a treatment can be offered to the patient. Based on these elements, a wax model previewing the final dentition can be made by the prosthetist and shown to the patient: The WAX UP. This wax simulation can then be transferred to resin in the patient’s mouth, without dental preparation, in order to better appreciate the integration of this dentition in the face: the MOCK UP.
